The Communist Nextdoor

Alright, this is going to be a long read, however, the work is presented here for your use and you DO need to spend some time on this.

First it should be known there is a ‘One World Government and a One World Legal System’. Once we admit this, all other items listed below will fall into place. Don’t shoot the messenger.

1. If you don’t think there is no Communist Party influence is government today or one that may live next door, then it is suggested you click here.

2. If you don’t think there are Socialists in government today and influencing earmarks, votes and law, then click here.

3. For the younger generation that does not know about McCarthy or for those who were subjected to revisionist history, this is a good time to click here.

Communism in America

But as a sample of what you need to know, read on….

[1] . . . As we celebrate the birth of this man who with his whole heart and soul hated war, I

would like to be able to speak of peace in our time, of war being outlawed, and of world-wide disarmament. These would be truly appropriate things to be able to mention as we celebrate the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

[2] Five years after a world war has been won, men’s hearts should anticipate a long peace, and men’s minds should be free from the heavy weight that comes with war. But this is not such a period—for this is not a period of peace. This is a time of the “cold war.” This is a time when all of the world is split into two vast, increasingly hostile armed camps—a time of a great armaments race.

[3] . . . There is still a hope for peace if we finally decide that no longer can we safely blind our eyes and close our ears to those facts which are shaping up more and more clearly. And that is that we are now engaged in a show-down fight—not the usual war between nations for land areas or other material gains, but a war between two diametrically opposed ideologies.

[4] . . . The great difference between our western Christian world and the atheistic Communist world is not political, ladies and gentlemen, it is moral. There are other differences, of course, but those could be reconciled. For instance, the Marxian idea of confiscation the land and factories and running the entire economy as a single enterprise is momentous. Likewise, Lenin’s invention of the one-party police state as a way to make Marx’s idea work is hardly less momentous.

[5] . . . With only those differences, however, the East and the West could most certainly still live in peace.

[6] The real, basic difference, however, lies in the religion of immoralism—invented by Marx, preached feverishly by Lenin, and carried to unimaginable extremes by Stalin. This religion of immoralism, if the Red half of the world wins—and well it may—this religion of immoralism will more deeply wound and damage mankind than any conceivable economic or political system.

[7] Karl Marx dismissed God as a hoax, and Lenin and Stalin have added in clear-cut, unmistakable language their resolve that no nation, no people who believe in a God, can exist side by side with their communistic state.

[8] . . . While Lincoln was a relatively young man in his late thirties, Karl Marx boasted that the Communist specter was haunting Europe. Since that time, hundreds of millions of people and vast areas of the world have fallen under Communist domination. Today, less than 100 years after Lincoln’s death, Stalin brags that this Communist specter is not only haunting the world, but is about to completely subjugate it.

[9] . . . Can there be anyone who fails to realize that the Communist world has said, “The time is now”—that this is the time for the show-down between the democratic Christian world and the Communist atheistic world?

[10] Unless we face this fact, we shall pay the price that must be paid by those who wait too

long.

[11] Six years ago, at the time of the first conference to map out the peace—Dumbarton Oaks— there was within the Soviet orbit 180,000,000 people. Lined up on the antitotalitarian side there were in the world at that time roughly 1,625,000,000 people…in less than 6 years the odds have changed from 9 to 1 in our favor to 8 to 5 against us. This indicates the swiftness of the tempo of Communist victories and American defeats in the cold war. As one of our outstanding historical figures once said, “When a great democracy is destroyed, it will not be because of enemies from without, but rather because of enemies from within.”

[12] The truth of this statement is becoming terrifyingly clear as we see this country each day losing on every front.

[13] The reason why we find ourselves in a position of impotency is not because our only

powerful enemy has sent men to invade our shores, but rather because of the traitorous actions of those who have been treated so well by this Nation. It has not been the less fortunate or members of minority groups who have been selling this Nation out, but rather those who have had all the benefits that the wealthiest nation on earth has had to offer—the finest homes, the finest college education, and the finest jobs in Government we can give.

[14] This is glaringly true in the State Department. There the bright young men who are born with silver spoons in their mouths are the ones who have been worst.

[15] . . . Now, let’s see what happens when individuals with Communist connections are forced out of the State Department. Gustave Duran, who was labeled as (I quote) “a notorious international Communist,” was made assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State in charge of Latin American affairs. He was taken into the State Department from his job as a lieutenant colonel in the Communist International Brigade. Finally, after intense congressional pressure and criticism, he resigned in 1946 from the State Department—and, ladies and gentlemen, where do you think he is now? He took over a high-salaried job as Chief of Cultural Activities Section in the office of the Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations.

[16] . . . Then there was a Mrs. Mary Jane Kenny, from the Board of Economic Warfare in the State Department, who was named in an FBI report and in a House committee report as a courier for the Communist Party while working for the Government. And where do you think Mrs. Kenny is—she is now an editor in the United Nations Document Bureau.

[17] . . . Another interesting case was that of Julian H. Wadleigh, economist in the Trade Agreements Sections of the State Department for 11 years and was sent to Turkey and Italy and other countries as United States representative. After the statute of limitations had run so he could not be prosecuted for treason, he openly and brazenly not only admitted but proclaimed that he had been a member of the Communist Party * * * that while working for the State Department he stole a vast number of secret documents * * * and furnished these documents to the Russian spy ring of which he was a part.

[18] . . . This, ladies and gentlemen, gives you somewhat of a picture of the type of individuals who have been helping to shape our foreign policy. In my opinion the State Department, which is one of the most important government departments, is thoroughly infested with Communists.

[19] . . . I have in my hand 57 cases of individuals who would appear to be either card carrying members or certainly loyal to the Communist Party, but who nevertheless are still helping to shape our foreign policy.

[20] One thing to remember in discussing the Communists in our Government is that we are not dealing with spies who get 30 pieces of silver to steal the blueprints of a new weapon. We are dealing with a far more sinister type of activity because it permits the enemy to guide and shape our policy.

[21] . . . This brings us down to the case of one Alger Hiss who is important not as an individual any more, but rather because he is so representative of a group in the State Department. It is unnecessary to go over the sordid events showing how he sold out the Nation which had given him so much.

[22] . . . When the Un-American Activities Committee called Alger Hiss to give an accounting, President Truman at once issued a Presidential directive ordering all Government agencies to refuse to turn over any information whatsoever in regard to the Communist activities of any Government employee to a congressional committee.

[23] Incidentally, even after Hiss was convicted—it is interesting to note that the President still labeled the exposé of Hiss as a “red herring.”

[24] . . . Ladies and gentlemen, one of the important reasons for the graft, the corruption, the dishonesty, the disloyalty, the treason in high Government positions—one of the most important reasons why this continues is a lack of moral uprising on the part of the 140,000,000 American people.

[25] . . . However, the morals of our people have not been destroyed. They still exist. This cloak of numbness and apathy has only needed a spark to rekindle them. Happily, this spark has finally been supplied.

[26] As you know, very recently the Secretary of State [Dean Acheson] proclaimed his loyalty to a man [Alger Hiss] guilty of what has always been considered as the most abominable of all crimes—of being a traitor to the people who gave him a position of great trust. The Secretary of State in attempting to justify his continued devotion to the man who sold out the Christian world to the atheistic world, referred to Christ’s Sermon on the Mount as a justification and reason therefor, and the reaction of the American people to this would have made the heart of Abraham Lincoln happy.

[27] When this pompous diplomat in striped pants, with a phony British accent, proclaimed to the American people that Christ on the Mount endorsed communism, high treason, and betrayal of a sacred trust, the blasphemy was so great that it awakened the dormant indignation of the American people.

[28] He has lighted the spark which is resulting in a moral uprising and will end only when the whole sorry mess of twisted, warped thinkers are swept from the national scene so that we may have a new birth of national honesty and decency in Government.

Okay take a breather and step outside for some fresh air as the best is yet to come……

Welcome back, you ready?

Congressional Record–Appendix, pp. A34-A35January 10, 1963
Current Communist Goals

EXTENSION OF REMARKS OF HON. A. S. HERLONG, JR. OF FLORIDA

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

Thursday, January 10, 1963

Mr. HERLONG. Mr. Speaker, Mrs. Patricia Nordman of De Land, Fla., is an ardent and articulate opponent of communism, and until recently published the De Land Courier, which she dedicated to the purpose of alerting the public to the dangers of communism in America.

At Mrs. Nordman’s request, I include in the RECORD, under unanimous consent, the following “Current Communist Goals,” which she identifies as an excerpt from “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen:

[From “The Naked Communist,” by Cleon Skousen]

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS

1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

13. Do away with all loyalty oaths.

14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”

28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.

36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.

37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business.

38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand [or treat].

39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.

41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.

42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use [“]united force[“] to solve economic, political or social problems.

43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.

44. Internationalize the Panama Canal.

45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction [over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction] over nations and individuals alike.

It is any wonder know that inside the State Department for the past 50+ years it is almost impossible to really know what is going on much less how much money is being thrown around without ANY accountability?

Please share this….

Nigerian Taliban, Boko Harem

Please someone tell Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and the rest of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus they need to attend a few meetings and read a few memos to understand the decades of history of Boko Harem and the killing machine they have been for years regardless of whether the dead are girls, military, political leaders or the very foundation of the poor and begging system throughout the region.

Boko Harem leadership and cult go back to the early 1990’s and the corruption and failed government in an otherwise oil rich country has failed to do anything to stop the essentially national threat.

Someone tell Congresswoman Jackson Lee that even as early as 2000, Osama bin Ladin called on Nigerian Muslims to wage jihad and establish and Islamic State. Boko Harem is affiliated with AQIM and many members have traveled even to Afghanistan joining up with the Taliban. Bin Ladin donated $3 Million dollars to organize the cell in Nigeria in circa 2000. Mohammed Yusef were the beneficiaries of the money and marching orders from bin Ladin. Boko Harem has a reach as far as Chad, Niger, , Mali, Mauritania and Algeria. Some fighters even trained under Muammar Qaddafi in Libya where many weapons from the Qaddafi cache are used by Boko Harem have been traced to Libya.

Boko Harem

Boko Harem’s leader, Shekau often orders videos posted in a host of chat rooms and websites expressing solidarity with al Qaeda factions.

Money comes from all kinds of sources including kidnapping, theft, extortion and dark money also comes from government officials including the police, armed forces and all sectors of state government.

While Boko Harem operates mostly underground unless they are executing planned attacks on schools, military and business, they get their supplies from helicopters that have been stolen from the Maiduguri Air Force Base. Supplies dropped from the air consists of arms, ammunition, money, medical supplies and food.

So to the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus here is a sample of recent attacks by Boko Harem.

November 4, 2011: A series of attacks on police targets and churches in the northeastern city of Damaturu claimed by the sect kills at least 150 people.

– January 20, 2012: At least 185 people are killed in the northern city of Kano following coordinated bombings and gun battles, claimed by Boko Haram.

– April 19, 2013: Fierce fighting between troops and suspected Islamists in the remote northeastern town of Baga kills 187 people while 77 others are injured.

– May 7, 2013: Boko Haram launches coordinated attacks in the northeastern town of Bama, killing 55 people and freeing 105 inmates.

– May 15, 2013: Nigerian troops begin an offensive against Boko Haram in the states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, where a state of emergency is declared in order to retake areas which have fallen into the hands of the insurgents.

– September 17, 2013: An attack by Boko Haram Islamists disguised in military uniforms in the northeastern Benisheik area in Borno state kills at least 142 people.

– February 15, 2014: An attack blamed on the sect leaves more than 100 people dead in the mostly Christian village of Izghe in Borno.

– April 14, 2014: A blast at a bus station packed with morning commuters at Nyanya, on the southern outskirts of Abuja, kills at least 72 people, in the most deadly attack to date on the capital. Most of the previous attacks have taken place in the group’s historic stronghold in the northeast.

Read a full report here on Boko Harem.

One last thing Congresswoman, pass this on to your friends in the CBC and the rest of Congress, your friend Hillary, you know when she was SecState….well she refused to list Boko Harem on the terror list for two years.

The State Department under Hillary Clinton fought hard against placing the al Qaeda-linked militant group Boko Haram on its official list of foreign terrorist organizations for two years. And now, lawmakers and former U.S. officials are saying that the decision may have hampered the American government’s ability to confront the Nigerian group that shocked the world by abducting hundreds of innocent girls.

So hey Sheila you want to use drones now but, sadly your gal Hillary hampered any aggressive action against Boko Harem for a long while and remember who died and was terrorized during that time.

Sigh….

Government, a Bureaucracy of Zero Consequence

It is gratifying that more American citizens are paying attention to government, but the fight of fraud, waste, abuse and collusion is never over. In recent years we have endured scandals of epic proportions yet NO one has been fired or jailed. Wrong-doing is often rewarded with financial bonuses and others are just re-assigned all under the protections of obscure laws and selective investigations and prosecutions. We have seen the publications of Senator Coburn’s Waste Book, we have seen the Citizens Against Government Waste Pig Book, we have seen government investment in failed start-up companies and those that lie including Barack Obama on Obamacare.

Well then we have the TSA abuse, we have endured the NSA,  Fast and Furious, the IRS and heck the list is long. But one particular agency that seems to have left the flashing margquee and the headlines is Customs and Border Patrol. Shhhh, but there is huge abuse and lawlessness going on within the ranks and yet one would have to dig deep to find it unless you ask those that live along the Southern border or ranchers that have had ranches in the Southwest for decades.

Somehow sexual abuse and physical abuse by the Border Patrol is being ignored such that almost 1000 cases in only a handful of years go unpunished. In fact the situation is so bad that residents and ranchers don’t want more Border Patrol hired at all. Where is the Inspector General’s report and where is Eric Holder?

Border patrol

This is an outrage….

McClatchy

A new report by an immigration watchdog finds that the United States’ largest federal law enforcement agency rarely punishes its agents for their mistreatment of immigrants and American citizens.

The report by the American Immigration Council found that 97 percent of abuse complaints lodged against Border Patrol agents and Customs and Border Protection officers resulted in no disciplinary action once an investigation had been completed. Those included a complaint from a pregnant woman in El Paso, Texas, that she had miscarried after a Border Patrol agent kicked her in the stomach, and several complaints from women that they had been forced to bare their breasts while in custody.

The survey also found that many complaints against U.S. border agents take years to resolve. The council reviewed 809 complaints filed in the three years from January 2009 to January 2012. But of those, only 485 had been investigated and resolved. The remainder are still under investigation, including a nearly 5-year-old allegation of forced sexual intercourse lodged July 30, 2009, against a Border Patrol agent in El Centro, Calif.

Among the cases that were still “pending investigation, the average number of days between the date the complaint was filed and the last record date provided in the data set was 389 days,” the report said.

“This absolutely confirms the experiences of our border families and communities,” said Vicki Gaubeca, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Regional Center for Border Rights in New Mexico. “U.S. Customs and Border Protection is now the largest law enforcement agency in the nation, and yet this massive buildup of border enforcement resources has not been matched with adequate accountability and oversight.”

The report provides a detailed look inside the government response to abuse complaints that have grown as U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Border Patrol have more than doubled in size in the last seven years. Its results closely track McClatchy reports into questionable actions by border agents.

Federal officials said Wednesday morning that they take every complaint seriously and do not tolerate abuse in their ranks. They said the number of complaints is a small amount considering border officials apprehended more than 1 million people during the reported time period.

“The men and women of CBP strive to treat each of the over 1 million people we come into contact with each day with the respect they deserve,” Border Patrol public affairs officer Douglas Mosier said in a statement Wednesday. “All allegations of misconduct are taken seriously, and if warranted, refer for appropriate investigative and/or disciplinary action to be taken.”

According to the complaints, which the immigration council received in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, physical abuse was the most common complaint, followed by “excessive use of force.” Other allegations include inadequate conditions and racial profiling.

There were seven allegations of sexual abuse, including three allegations of forced sexual intercourse and four of inappropriate touching or forcing female aliens to bare their breasts.

But 11 other instances that weren’t classified as sexual abuse seemed similar in nature to others that were, including two in which women said they were forced to bare their breasts, four allegations of inappropriate strip searches and four claims of inappropriate touching during a search. In one case, the case description referred only to sexual abuse, without specifics.

Of the 485 cases where a decision was made, six complaints led to counseling, two led to court proceedings, two led to oral reprimands and two led to what the report called “written reports.” Only one resulted in a suspension, the report said.

One of the report’s authors, Daniel Martinez, an assistant professor of sociology at George Washington University in Washington, said the findings are only a small subsample of the abuse that’s likely taking place. He said that of the hundreds of thousands of undocumented aliens returned to their countries each year, 10 percent claim they were abused while in U.S. custody.

“This is just really scratching the surface of the true population,” Martinez said.

The report also doesn’t include some of the most egregious cases of alleged abuse reported in recent years because they happened after the months for which the data were collected. Not included, for example, is a September 2012 incident in which a Chula Vista, Calif., Border Patrol agent allegedly jumped on the hood of unarmed woman’s car, then opened fire on the vehicle, killing her. An autopsy showed she’d been shot nine times.

The report also doesn’t cover the October 2012 incident in which Border Patrol agents shot and killed a 16-year-old boy as he walked on the Mexico side of the border to his Nogales home or the December 2012 detention and forced medical examination of a 54-year-old woman and U.S. citizen who was pulled from line as she waited to cross back into El Paso, Texas. She was taken to a hospital where she was subjected to six hours of invasive body searching, including probes of her anus and vagina, before being allowed to go.

McClatchy and other news organizations have chronicled the deaths of at least 21 people, 10 of whom were shot for throwing stones at Border Patrol agents, amid criticism that the Border Patrol has expanded too quickly to ensure proper training of new agents.

Until Tuesday, however, that had been no comprehensive accounting of abuse complaints against the agency. The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees the Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection, does not release statistics on complaints and how they are resolved.

Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke of Texas and Republican Rep. Steve Pearce of New Mexico introduced legislation in March that would impose more levels of oversight and accountability on U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

Iran, the Pivot Away

Nothing has changed in Iran, except Rouhani is now wealthier given the suspension by the United States of key sanctions. Iran is as strong today globally as it ever was. Europe is considering stronger sanctions and Iran is working diligently to get more sanctions lifted to buy at least 400 aircraft.

Just keep in mind that the Obama White House has been negotiating with Iran and using several mediators, but even more disturbing is what is below. We are earnestly working with a state sponsor of terror.

Iran terror

Designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism in 1984, Iran continued its terrorist-related activity, including support for Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza, and for Hizballah. It has also increased its presence in Africa and attempted to smuggle arms to Houthi separatists in Yemen and Shia oppositionists in Bahrain. Iran used the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) and its regional proxy groups to implement foreign policy goals, provide cover for intelligence operations, and create instability in the Middle East. The IRGC-QF is the regime’s primary mechanism for cultivating and supporting terrorists abroad.

Iran views Syria as a crucial causeway in its weapons supply route to Hizballah, its primary beneficiary. In 2013, Iran continued to provide arms, financing, training, and the facilitation of Iraqi Shia fighters to the Asad regime’s brutal crackdown, a crackdown that has resulted in the death of more than 100,000 civilians in Syria. Iran has publicly admitted sending members of the IRGC to Syria in an advisory role. There are reports indicating some of these troops are IRGC-QF members and that they have taken part in direct combat operations. In February, senior IRGC-QF commander Brigadier General Hassan Shateri was killed in or near Zabadani, Syria.

Beyond terrorism, there is still the matter of the Iranian nuclear program and Iran is not cooperating with the IAEA.

The Iranian regime’s Atomic Energy Organization spokesman, Behrouz Kamalvandi, stated that “legally, they have no right to visit Parchin since we are not implementing the Additional Protocol (to the NPT) and even if we did, access needs to be managed” (State-run Fars news agency, May 3).

Iran and China are now strategic defense partners which the State Department seems to dismiss. Then there is Sudan.

Two Iranian warships docked for refuelling on Monday in Port Sudan, across the Red Sea from Iran’s regional rival Saudi Arabia.

Sudan’s army spokesman Sawarmi Khaled Saad said the warships, one of them a navy supply ship, had arrived in Port Sudan, where civilians could tour the vessels during their port call.

Naval vessels from Iran have periodically stopped in Port Sudan for what Khartoum describes as normal port calls.

The coastal city lies about 250 kilometres (155 miles) across the Red Sea from Saudi Arabia, which has long been wary of Iran’s regional ambitions.

In March, a Western diplomat said strained political relations between Riyadh and Khartoum over Iran could have been a factor in a decision by Saudi banks to stop dealing with Sudan.

Khartoum also has close ties with Qatar, which is perceived as supporting the Egypt-based Muslim Brotherhood, towards which Saudi Arabia and other Gulf monarchies have long been hostile.

Relations between Sudan and Saudi Arabia are “zero”, a senior Sudanese opposition politician told AFP last month.

But Ibrahim Ghandour, an aide to President Omar al-Bashir, said in a March interview that there is “nothing peculiar” in Sudan’s relations with Iran, insisting they had not affected ties with other countries, including Saudi Arabia, which remains a leading investor.

On Monday Sudan’s foreign ministry described relations with the Gulf as “stable” and said ties with Saudi Arabia are based on “mutual respect,” in a report to parliament, the official SUNA news agency said.

There are CIA political hacks and then the Others

I have nothing to add to this one except to say, there once was a time when the oath and sense of duty meant something.

The CIA that saved Dick Holm

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, May 2, 2014 – Benghazi showed  us a difficult truth. Once upon a time, the CIA left no man behind. The Agency  took care of its own, even in the face of disapproval from the public or from  other government organizations. Right or wrong, the Agency did everything it  could to protect its employees.

behind enemy lines

And the leaders in the United States Government backed those decisions,  anxious to protect Americans overseas.

That was the CIA that saved Dick Holm; that went into the Congo not once but  twice to rescue him.

In 1964, Dick Holm was a young CIA officer. After a two-year tour in Laos and  Thailand, Holm was assigned to the Congo, to collect intelligence and support  Belgian operations in the country.

One day in 1965, the chief of the air unit directed Holm to conduct an air  survey of the area to determine whether arms and ammunition were coming across  the border with Sudan. Holm was to ride with pilot Juan Peron in his T-28, a  two-seater plane where the passenger sits behind the pilot. The mission was to  gather intelligence but, even more importantly, to attack military targets

Holm tells how he and Peron spotted some trucks and a power plant, and Peron  attacked both targets.

After the attacks, the weather turned threatening, blowing the plane off  course. Lost and low on fuel, Peron decided to take the plane down before dark  while he still had the ability to land in a clearing. They crash-landed into the  jungle.

During the landing, Holm was splashed with flaming jet fuel on his face, his  hands and his legs. Juan was unhurt. The plane was on fire. Holm’s eyes were  seared shut from the fire and he had little use of his hands. He could smell  fire and hear Juan yelling at him to get out of the plane. He used his elbows to  release the harness and then crawled out of the plane, and Juan helped him get  away from the plane minutes before it exploded.

Holm was weak and barely able to move, and he and Juan were in enemy  territory with no support. Holm says he knew burns meant dehydration and  infection, and the jungle was an inhospitable place for someone hurt as badly as  he was. Holm says in his book, “Juan used his knife to cut charred skin hanging  from several of my fingers. There were already bugs on some of my burns.”

Holm and Juan were also in enemy territory. Simba rebels, the force the  Belgians and Americans opposed, were in the jungle and would not hesitate to  kill Holm and Juan if they found them. They were known to eat their enemies  after killing them, believing they gained strength from eating their vital  organs.

The next morning, Juan found a village. Village Chief Faustino agreed to help  Holm and Juan to safety, and to take care of Holm while Juan went for help. When  Juan and the villagers came back to Holm, he was covered in bees and barely  conscious.

The villagers made a litter and carried Holm back to the village. They cared  for his burns and dug out the worm-like bugs that had burrowed into his wounds.  They applied a salve that hardened and created a type of coating, which Holm  credits with saving his life. Juan and two villagers left Holm in the village to  go for help.

Eight days later, Juan and the villagers arrived at an air station in Paulis.  Within two hours, the Agency officers at Paulis received permission to use one  of the Belgian helicopters at the field to rescue Holm. They also sent a T-28,  piloted by Juan, and the air operations chief in Paulis had ordered a C130 to be  at Paulis to transport Holm as soon as he arrived.

When the helicopter crashed on landing to rescue Holm, the air operation  authorized a second helicopter to take its place.

That second helicopter saved Holm, and returned him to Paulis. He then  immediately was transferred to the C130 and sent to a hospital in what was then  Leopoldville, now Kinshasa.

Holm also reports that when CIA headquarters heard Holm was in Paulis, Dick  Helms, the Deputy Director for Plans, now the Directorate of Operations,  immediately went to Director of Central Intelligence John McCone and said the  only way to save Holm’s life was to get him to the National Burn Center in San  Antonio, Texas. The DCI called Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, who  authorized the US Air force to deploy a 707 to carry a burn team to care for  Holm.

Holm survived, and after years of painful rehabilitation, returned to have an  extraordinary 35-year career at the CIA.

The U.S. government went in to rescue Holm, one man, and spared no expense to  give him the best care possible.

Where was that CIA on September 11, 2012?

On September 11, 2012, CIA-affiliated officers stood on a roof in Benghazi  for seven hours waiting for help from the U.S. government. None came.  Eventually, they could no longer hold back the terrorists, and they lost their  lives.

Charles Woods and Glen Doherty, part of a Global Response Staff that provides  security for CIA officers overseas held off hostile attackers at the US  Consulate in Benghazi for seven hours on September 11. For seven hours after  Ambassador Christopher Stevens and Sean Smith were attacked, they manned machine  guns on the roof of the CIA annex and defended US territory and personnel. They  called for help but were ignored.

While the public still does not know exactly what happened in Benghazi, we do  know that US government leaders did not deploy forces to rescue Americans  stranded on a rooftop taking enemy fire. We know that for seven hours, those men  called for assistance were ignored.

We don’t know where leaders were on September 11. We do know they were not on  a rooftop in Benghazi and they did not send help, despite seven hours of  requests.

We know they left those men behind.
